This blue dress was a gift from my cousin Monica (who happens to help run a consignment clothing company called Unwritten). I may have ruined the summery vibe by layering a long-sleeved black shirt underneath, but I still like my less-than-freewheeling outfit. Comfort is always the ultimate priority, and I would have felt awkward wearing such a low-cut dress on its own. I'm just not the sexy type, at least not conventionally, and for the most part I've resigned myself to that. Dita Von Teese, Rihanna, and their similarly seductive sistren do arouse a twinge of jealousy in my soul--but I am what I am, right? Although I don't eschew fishnets, that is the extent of my risque attire.
Flip-flops: basically the only shoes I wear from May to September.
La-la-la-linen! This is totally sweet. Your cousin Monica is wonderful. I would want to wear it with a feminine blouse with little cap sleeves and a peter pan style collar beneath, but you look adorable in it just as you are!
