Bright Simple Blue

Last night I stayed over at my gentleman friend's apartment. We made a huge dinner of semi-experiments based on Mexican food that we've eaten throughout our culinary histories, and agreed that south-of-the-border cuisine is the creme de la creme. Our approximation of it was pretty good too! Plantains, both savory and sweet, pork with nopalitos and lime, chorizo and quesadillas... YUM. During dinner we watched Death on the Nile, which is an entertaining adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel. The film features fabulous gowns and hyped-up hysteria:

Yup, that's Mia Farrow on the left. There are a surprising number of big names in this movie.

  1. Mexican food is my FAVORITE as I lived there for about 5 months while studying abroad! Sounds like you guys had the perfect night, and blue is totally your color! :)
    Happy Monday!

  2. I love Mexican food! It's so fun to experiment with because it feels like anything would work (except when you accidentally turn it into Italian food).

I scrolled through and thought, "is that Mia Farrow?" And then saw your comment, "Yes that's Mia Farrow." You sure you weren't talking to me!?

I really dig the blue and blue together. It's very much the simplicity you talked about achieving!

  3. Blue is my absolute favourite colour in clothes. Especially periwinkle and navy, so... ;-) You'd think it would be black, being a rogue, but it's surprising how sick you get of black when it's your 'uniform', so to speak...

Also, Death on the Nile, and Agatha Christie in general, is so many kinds of awesome I can't even. If you haven't already, you need to read all the books and then watch ALL the David Suchet adaptations, like, yesterday. And then the Marples with Geraldine McEwan. ALL OF THEM. DO IT. :-D

*smugness* I have personally read Death on the Nile while strolling down the corniche in Aswan on my way from the Old Cataract Hotel to the souk... */smugness*

    1. I totally love Agatha Christie! I haven't read ~all~ the books, but definitely quite a few. I prefer Joan Hickson, but I haven't really given Geraldine McEwan a chance, so I should try again. Your Nile-reading circumstances are SO cool!
