Limoncello

lemon yellow cardigan, cropped grey t-shirt, light grey a-line skirt - OOTD 1/14/2014

I'm pretty thrilled about this outfit, not because it's anything special but because I made the skirt! I cut up an old hoodie and put half of it back together. It was supposed to to sit at my waist rather than my hips, but I forgot to account for the natural stretchiness of sweatshirt material. Anyway, the result is no masterpiece, but I'll wear it. I always feel pleased when I make something even semi-successful!

Yup, definitely mid-expression in that last photo. I didn't have a lot of shots to choose from for this post, because my camera remote isn't working. Probably just a dead battery.

  3. I actually like the last pic the best! I keep seeing these tips for making skirts out of t-shirts and sweatshirts. I might just have to try it myself.

    1. Haha, good! It's not that hard if you know the basics of sewing, and there are tons of guides on the internet. So I say go for it!

  4. Great sewing skills and I like that you took an old hoodie to make the skirt! I like the middle picture the best. Visiting from UBC...thanks for sharing!

  5. Nice! I've always wanted to get into modding my old clothes...but I lack a sewing machine/the time to hand stitch an item of clothing!

    1. I did it by hand, since I'm still kinda scared of my sewing machine. (Meep.) It took forever, but I was watching Miss Marple (and I only work part-time) so it was okay.

  6. I love everything about the look! Your red lipstick is fierce! The skirt is fab! And your soft heathered colors are lovely. I just keep wanting to get a peek at your necklace design.

    1. Thank you! I cursed myself for not getting a closeup of the necklace, but I was also too lazy to pull the camera out again. The pendant is kind of a ball of wire? Hard to explain. I'll wear it again soon and take a good picture.

  9. Nicely done on the skirt, it looks like you did a great job baised on the pictures! I get so frustrated with my level of sewing, even the worst made item form forever21 is better than anything I can make so yeah, impressed with your mad sewing skillz!

  10. Wow, that was made from a sweater? I couldn't even tell until you mentioned it.
Something about this outfit seems different than your usual, but not in a bad way! You look great. :)

  11. I cannot believe you made the skirt. That's brilliant. Never would have known. Repurposing clothes can be so fun. Personally I have no skill with a sewing machine, but wish I did!

    1. I actually sewed this by hand, because I don't really know how to use a sewing machine. I only know the basic basics. But I want to learn more! And thank you!
