When I was chatting with Nancy, the owner of Uber Optics, I asked if she put together lookbooks for her shop, and she said no. But upon perusing her Facebook page, I realized that Nancy's frequent portraits of her customers comprise an ever-growing, real-life lookbook. This post is a compilation of my favorites.

The following three shots are from a multi-photo homage to Terry Richardson, that "edgy" fashion photographer who is known for his signature oversize glasses (among other things):
// Michael //
// Elia //
// Claudia //
I like Nancy's take on the aesthetic a lot more than Richardson's original style, mainly because he is a despicable person. You can read more about that here and here, but be warned that there's explicit discussion of rape, etc. (I hate that "rape, etc" is a phrase I have reason to use.) I named this post after one by Rebecca Stice.
But let's get back to snazzy portraits of snazzy people wearing snazzy glasses:

Those are some great portraits, and what better way to sell a product than with the smiling faces of real life customers?

These pictures are awesome! What a cool collection and a great idea to get pictures of customers wearing the merchandise. I love the picture of the little girl in those snazzy red glasses!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! She's a cutie.

So true! And the little girl is her daughter! The owner posts a lot of cute pictures of her kids wearing stylish glasses.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say I always have a thing for facial hair, but I'm totally fangirling this man's beard. It makes my day. Thanks for the smiles.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? It's so fancy! I'm glad you like it too.
DeleteOh man, the little girl is percious. :). But yes, THAT man. It feels like way too many people fawn all over his work without ever mentioning how horriable he is. On a happier note, the photos of her customers totally works as a lookbook, its pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteHe gives me the shudders, like Roman Polanski or R. Kelly. But yes, hooray for the happier note!
