Giddy July
When my hair gets repulsively dirty, I cover it with a scarf and pretend that the scarf is my hair instead! I highly recommend this technique. Another option is to shower and no longer be grimy... I might give that one a whirl tomorrow. Might, because summer is the best time to spend days on end reveling in personal grossness. Seriously, come over and let's make mudpies!
I'm finished with classes until August 18th, so I'm going to spend the next few weeks writing and planning my tentative trip to South Africa next June, and my sure-thing long weekend with my cherie in LA this September. Generally speaking I'm not a big traveler--#HomebodyLyfe--but Disneyland is calling to me.
As for South Africa, an old teacher of mine lives in Cape Town, where she works with impoverished local schools. My loose plan is to get licensed as an ESL teacher this fall/winter, and then jet out there to do... something. Like I said, the plan is loose, and perhaps overly ambitious. I know that I want to neglect the internet for three months or so, that I want to document my progress copiously, and that I want to do something good for other people. Of course, I could undertake compassionate projects here at home... We'll see. Mainly I'm glad to be excited about the future!

I haven't commented in forevers and evers, and for that I apologize! I'll come back to the internet soon one day. Or right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a big traveller, either. A weekend trip to Nasvhille, which is only three hours away from my home, had me stressing, haha! But man, a trip to South Africa--this sounds right down your alley. I know you're going to make the best of it!
I love your hair wrap and this outfit just looks so comfy. I hope you have had a most excellent summer so far, my dear! <3
No problem! I'm a bad commenter so I'm not one to blame anyone, haha =P Thank you, Ali! I hope your summer is proceeding splendidly as well!
DeleteMy preferred scarf for covering filthy hair is teal. It's a thing.
ReplyDeleteTeal is a good color!
DeleteI've always wanted to go to south africa! I think it would be an amazing experience and I would love reading about your time there! Also, I think I need to go out and buy some scarves xD
ReplyDeleteThank you! If you buy some scarves, I hope you blog about them!
DeleteThat's such a great goal to have! I am excited to hear about your future experience in South Africa. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, it's not a sure thing... but if it happens, you'll hear about it! =P
DeleteI like the rogueish/piratical edge that that black scarf gives you :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you ;)
