Family Threads
I've had this pencil skirt for months, but it's been hard to wear because it doesn't properly fit me. You can see that it bunches up around the stomach. There are also a few loose threads and such that I've been lazy about fixing. Normally a difficult piece gets tossed on the giveaway pile, but this skirt belonged to my great-grandmother. I try to be unsentimental about my wardrobe, with limited success.

That second picture is so cute. I don't think the skirt looks like it doesn't fit well. Wouldn't have noticed the bunches had you not mentioned them!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Maybe I'm too self-conscious, as usual. Thanks!
DeleteAgreed! Great grandmother's skirt stays within the family. Besides, you look adorbs in it!
ReplyDeleteThank you too!
DeleteI think it's super neat that a skirt was kept in the family for so long! I own NONE of my mom's, grandmother's, or great grandmother's clothes. As Marie said, I didn't notice until you said something.
ReplyDeleteHa, well, oops! I don't know how it stuck around for so long. There's also a matching top that I hang in my bedroom because the cutwork/lace effect is gorgeous.
DeleteI'm super sentimental about pieces of clothing - totally understand, especially when it has a pedigree like that one!
ReplyDeleteSolidarity =D
DeleteI am so sentimental about clothes! I have so much trouble giving anything away.
ReplyDeleteIt can be a curse!
