Robert Clergerie: Man Down

Style Wise posted these shoes recently. My eyebrows shot up and I was like:

I adore Rihanna. "Man Down" is my jam. Also I want her perfume. I signed up to receive a sample (on Facebook) but it must have gotten lost in the mail, so I still don't know if I even like it. But look how prettyyy:

I feel the same way about Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" and "Minajesty". Especially since there are so many different shiny bottles! Anyway, I looked up the shoe brand: Robert Clergerie is all about made-in-France quality, and snobby enough to make the whole experience that much more, ah, Parisian. Be warned that the prices hurt. You can click through to look at specifics, but most pairs cost roughly $300. The vintage ones are cheaper.

Posted on Vogue Daily in 2010: "Inspired by an archival design from World War II, [the straw sandal] represents an era when the scarceness of leather meant that even top designers like Salvatore Ferragamo were forced to use their ingenuity to conjure up stylish shoes using extremely mundane materials like cork, cellophane, string, and, as is the case here, straw. The continued success of this shoe, first launched by Clergerie in 1991 and now again for spring 2010, proves that sometimes the best things can come out of adversity." Similar styles are still current: see here and here.

    1. Me too. I can see myself traipsing about somewhere country-ish while wearing them.

  3. The straw oxfords are incredible. God, dying to go to Paris. It's only across the channel but I fear, like these shoes, the expense is not ideal!

  4. The shoes do not speak to me, but I would love to sample the perfume. A day without perfume is like a day without sunshine.

  6. I'm in love with the straw sandals and the straw/wicker looking lace ups too! I'm now wishing wicker clothing was a thing.
