reformation eco-fashion pieces

I have mentioned before that coats bore me, but this one is enchanting in its neutral simplicity. Maybe I'm changing my mind about minimalist outerwear staples! After all, in comparison, I am horrified by Barbour's upcoming collection (via The College Prepster):

WHY? Those poor innocent jackets.

Anyway, that's not really related. Back to the topic at hand: I encountered Reformation via Into Mind's guide to eco-conscious shopping. According to their self-description, "Reformation is an environmentally sustainable fashion brand that repurposes vintage and surplus materials to create a chic, limited edition collection. Our collection is made locally in our own New York and Los Angeles studios, and sold directly to our own stores at fair prices." Excellent!

But there's a problem: I clicked through to look at dresses, and felt instant disappointment. I am so sick of only seeing thin models. I don't have anything against slimmer people, but I want some body diversity. PLEASE. No more insultingly obvious Photoshopped waists. And although Reformation does have women of color wearing their pieces, almost everyone is on the paler side.

Setting those grievances aside, I really like most of the garments. My favorites entail the rest of this post...

I had to include the buzzy bracelet because my dad and I recently watched More Than Honey, which was weird but good. Lots of cool macro footage of bees doing stuff.

  1. I'm not sure I could entirely pull it off, but I am fascinated by the yellow/blue/green dress. I can't tell if I should find it revolting or awesome!! There's something of the '70s wallpaper to it...but I like the line...

    1. I vote for awesome, and I bet you could pull it off! I'd be interested in the makeup look you'd put together to go with it.

  2. Hi Sonya,
I'm glad you found Reformation a useful addition to the eco-conscious shopping guide. You're absolutely right that's it's pretty limited in terms of their models, but hopefully we'll see a wider range of girls rocking their stuff on blogs etc. Personally I've been eyeing up one of their backless dresses :P

    1. It was a great guide! I'm a little starstruck that you're commenting here, hahah :3 I'm not daring enough for those backless dresses, but they sure are gorgeous! & that's one thing I love about blogs--you get to see everyone doin' their thing.

  3. How did I miss this post?!?! LOVE! Floral swing. Dresses meant for movement. If I wore these dresses you would not be able to hold a conversation with me because I would be twirling all the time. I cannot resist the allure of a big dance skirt. Add flowers, even better. Thank you for the smiles.

  4. Those poor innocent people who somehow end up buying those jackets..... My god those are disturbing coats. I like the floral dresses you picked there, but I agree the models all look the same, which is just plain boring if nothing else!

  5. Wow. Here I thought I'd seen some fugly coats before but nope, that wins. The first coat(and the outfit) is a pure dream though, I so want to dress like that. I'm pretty in love with this clothing line as well, I think I'll have to start saving up for one of their maxis.
