Not To Worry

Lavender Floral Dress, Dark Red Plaid Shirt - OOTD 1/1/2014

The first time I wore this dress, I layered a solid color underneath, so the outfit wouldn't be too busy. Today I tried a different angle by using my dad's old plaid shirt instead. The fabric is pretty thick, which means it adds bulk. I mention that because I'm self-conscious; worried that whoever is reading this will judge me. I want y'all to know that I'm aware of the padding effect, and that I've decided not to be bothered by it. Shhhhh, I know I'm not supposed to care about what other people think. But I do. Honestly, anyone who says that they don't is lying.

Notice my toe sticking out of my shoe? Yeah, these flats are basically dead:

Playing with red lip liner and pink lipstick, which I know is supposed to be tacky, but I'm not concerned about that either! In an ideal world, it would be "Violet Pearl" lipstick.

I've never been good at balancing on one foot. Practice makes perfect! Probably... not. Heh.

I can't resist a pretty shot of my neighbor's flowers. Style goal: turn into a rosebud.

    1. Thank you! I mix lipsticks all the time, because I don't usually have the exact color I want. And I don't always achieve it by mixing, either, haha.

  4. I love the lipstick-look, brilliant! Alas, my fashion sense isn't up to much (love layering but in solid colours) but I think you look fabulous - with your sense of fun, anything would go!

  6. I don't think you look 'padded' at all! But I do know what you mean about lying when we say we don't care what others think ;-)

I am wearing my violet pearl lipstick to ballet class today - I will remind me to tell everyone there about your blog :-)

    1. Awww, you sweetheart! That lipstick, plus the nail polish you posted today, plus ballet--you are ready to rumble, rogue. I hope the trolls (and so on) are fleeing. Actually, I hope they're not, so you can kick their evil butts with your steel-reinforced toe shoes. (Are trolls evil? I hope I'm not unfairly maligning trolls. Also I'm sure steel-reinforced toe shoes would be wildly impractical for some reason or another, but like, I can dream!)

    2. Actually, I believe you can steel-reinforce your pointes. Especially for the guys who use them!. Obviously, in my case, it's the hidden blades that shoot out of the toe boxes, Assasin's creed style. Makes for one seriously deadly grand battement
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVM8AP3luyI plus blades = panoramic slashing!)

Also yes, traditionally trolls are either to be avoided or vanquished. I'm sure there are some nice peaceful ones somewhere, but sadly the ones I meet always want to knock my head off my shoulders.

  7. I tend to overthink what other people may think of me as well. Most of the time, they aren't really analyzing. Comes with the territory of being self-aware.
I love seeing how you experiment with combining different items in your wardrobe! It's inspired me to do the same.

    1. I know, right? I'm hypersensitive about myself but no one else notices the things that make me nitpick, haha. And thank you! I think that's one of the cool aspects of blogger friendships, that you can bounce ideas off of each other and both grow from it.

  12. I didn't notice the padding effect at all--in fact, what I did notice was how the lovely purple in the plaid shirt brings out the lilac of the dress. Poor flats! They matched the outfit so well, and did their duty. Off to Shoe Heaven they go!

  13. I adore your adventurous style! Life's too short to always wear plain shirts under your dresses. And I too have worn some of shoes thin. That's the sign of an awesome pair of shoes!
