Millennial Park
Guess what I'm reading for the first time! I'm only on page 70, but so far I really like it. Thrillers are fun, and dinosaurs are cool. In fact, you might be wise to expect a paleo-inspiration post soon...
Wow, what a totally candid photo of me reading! Amazing. You can also see my scarf-as-apron dealio, which I'm on the fence about. Not sure if I like it or not. But hey, at least it's interesting! I'd rather be anything before boring. People like Zoe Schlacter have sartorial courage vastly exceeding mine, but I still find strange looks preferable to going unnoticed.
My makeshift bookmark is an adorable almost-empty tissue pack. I have a lifetime supply of these, because my friend gave me a bunch for my last birthday.

That second photo is blowing my mind. Candid and stunning. I love a good literary-inspired post. Never actually read Jurassic Park, but do you recommend it?
ReplyDeleteTotally! I actually stayed up late last night to finish it. The book definitely has flaws, but then again I'm a nitpicker, and the suspense is worth putting up with a few annoyances, IMO.
DeleteI like the scarf/apron idea! Most of my scarves are actually pashminas, which means if I tried it I'd end up with more of a 'sarong' effect though :-P
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about putting up with annoyances for the suspense - I feel that way every time I read a Dan Brown book! (which you can only really read once, because then all the suspense is gone, and you only have the annoyances).
I've actually read The Da Vinci Code a couple of times because I forgot what happened, haha. That's the only benefit of low story-retention.
DeleteI find that most thrillers have plausibility issues of various kinds, and I have a hard time totally suspending disbelief. It's real fun to watch sci-fi flicks with me. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the phrase, "SONYA, IT'S JUST A MOVIE!" Pacific Rim drove me crazy! It was fun, but it still drove me crazy.
Jurassic Park is a great novel! I highly recomend rest of the Crichton's work also. He sure knew how to keep you on the edge of your seat.
ReplyDeleteAnd not absolutely sure about the scarf as apron either. But the colors are absolutely geourgeous.
I'm currently reading the sequel! Very exciting. And next on my list is Airstream.
DeleteJurassic Park scares you. You must hide behind it. This of course, I understand completely.
ReplyDeleteLol, exactly. Them dinosaurs is vicious!
DeleteI loved that book! It's a total page turner.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! The science and mathematics behind the concept are pretty interesting too, although I doubt the validity of some bits.
DeleteDefinitely on my "to read" list!
ReplyDeleteI think you would like it!
