All The Gold In California
It feels like July or August, what with all this sunshine and having yellow daisies in my hair.
Speaking of summertime, I just discovered that Sublime's take on the famous Gershwin tune originally started out, "Doin' time, and the livin's easy." The song makes more sense in that iteration; you can read about it on Rap Genius or Wikipedia. "Doin' Time" is a great listen with either lyric.
The title of this post cites "All the Gold in California" by Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers (surprise, surprise). I looked the song up on Wikipedia to see if there were any fun tidbits about it, and the only thing that even approached interesting was this: "On January 19, 1985, Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers Band sang the song at the nationally-televised 50th Presidential Inaugural Gala, the day before the second inauguration of Ronald Reagan." Scintillating.
Anyway, I feel like a golden California girl today. My classically San Franciscan brooch reinforces that impression.
To be honest, I can't even remember the last time I rode a trolley car.
(Sonya Mann and the Case of the Invisible Eyebrows: it turns out that direct sunlight is the culprit.)
