Stay Wrapped

OOTD 10/28/2013

Not having hair is kinda weird. But I like it! Just kidding--I actually do still have hair, but it's all tucked away under my headscarf. The reason I went short in the first place was that it irritates me no end to have hair on my face and neck. And yet I'm currently growing out my shaggy pixie, because it bores me to look the same for too long. Unfortunately, half-grown bangs really test my patience. Sometimes I am tempted to shave my head--that way there wouldn't be hair flopping around constantly! But I'm too timid to really do it. Luckily, a headscarf can provide temporary respite, both from my annoyance and my usual look. This particular scarf, designed by Ramona Sakiestewa in association with the Smithsonian Institution, was a gift from my grandmother to my mother, who passed it on to me.

This red cardigan followed the same trajectory of ownership: grandmother, mother, and then me. I think that makes it vintage? I'm not sure what decade it's from. Whatever.

  1. I love the idea of using a headscarf to completely change up your hair! You pull off the look beautifully, Sonya. And a cardigan passed down from generation to generation? I would say it qualifies as vintage. ;)
