Everything Is Flowers

My friend Kyndra and I were texting this morning, and we came up with some great predictions for what fashion will look like in the upcoming half-decade. (You can read the original text convo if you want, but the content follows below.) I predict that our predictions will turn out to be 100% accurate. Bet on it, baby! Or just give me the money right now--I would be down with that.

Floral patterns and flower crowns are the beginning. Soon people will progress to wearing crowns of other kinds. Princess femme is the zeitgeist, my friends! In 2015, the spring/summer presentations will be made of flowers: literally entirely flowers. Gardeners and florists will rejoice, as will everybody else. Because hello, flowers~

People who aren't into the "girly" look can construct their clothes using other plants, knitting sweaters from fern fronds and weaving moss into trousers. "Fall colors" will take on new meaning. During the chilly months of winter, everyone will huddle together underground, burrowing near the stashes of friendly squirrels, and bursting forth again like bulbs when the sunshine penetrates the earth. It will be similar to Thumbelina--except, as Kyndra put it, "Less bugs and creepy dudes. More singing while flowers bloom."

After reading that comment, I was suddenly struck by a desire for a Thumbelina-meets-Tiana crossover with The Princess and the Frog. Kyndra suggested, "They can help each other stop being a frog/get wings. Then Tiana becomes human again and Thumbelina will be a fairy. Both are princesses and they will open a shop." You know how sometimes you don't realize how much you want something until you hear it named? Yeah. I want this.

  1. Oooh, the story of Thumbelina always creeped me out, even as a child. For some reason, the idea of Hansel and Gretel shoving someone into an oven didn't bother me in the slightest.
