Cardigan Over Garden

blonde pixie cut, crochet cropped cardigan, periwinkle floral dress, yellow crossbody purse

I listened to Lolita while walking my neighbor's dog, and kept listening until after I was done taking outfit photos. (Relevant rant: "Lola In Slacks".) It's one of my favorite books, important to me both as a woman and a writer, so I frequently play it again. I've actually only read the story once, because Nabokov's prose is denser than the The Scarlet frikkin Letter. (Just kidding--no one trumps Hawthorne.) Hard books are better on tape, in my experience. Eventually I'll make it past Tom Bombadil in The Lord of the Rings...

Today I suffered from All My Clothes Are Boring Syndrome. (Have you been vaccinated?!) Looking at these pictures, I think what I wore was pretty cute, but it felt... I dunno, typical. Unfortunately the only remedy I'm familiar with involves spending money. There are some low-budget treatments--remix clothes in new ways, box up half of your wardrobe for the season, etc--but they're not as satisfying as a new dress. (Buy 4 me plz?)

Petty complaints aside, life is good. My dog's hair is growing back and I have a sunny yellow purse.

  1. I really like this outfit, it's very cute. Lolita is one of my favorite book, too. But I've only read it once because it is pretty dense.

  2. I have been in the "All my clothes are boring" funk for a while now. Maybe a trip to the thrift store for a new wardrobe addition is in order! I think your cardigan is really cute!

    1. Thank you, my mom gave it to me! I would just go shopping but I'm trying not to spend money, even thrift money... *whines*

  3. I know exactly what you mean. Although, in honesty, at the moment it's more of a 'all my clothes need to get sold or donated because I have too many'. I'm not precisely bored of them, but I wish they weren't there. It's an odd feeling.

Although, I did recently experience the giddy feeling of rediscovering a true gem - a 3/4 sleeve purple tartan wool trenchcoat that I've had for 15 years or something ridiculous like that. It's glorious and I love it and it's the perfect thing for winter at the moment. I love op-shopping my stash. I hate that I have a stash that's big enough and old enough to op-shop... :-P

    1. Totally. I hate clutter, so I purge my wardrobe often. That coat sounds awesome!

  4. i think you look cute as well. and not boring at all to me. the little sweater thing is an original yet simple touch i think. do you have any friends you could do a swap with? Way back in winter my good friend did a huge closet cleanout and let me go through her giveaway bags before donating and I got several things but most importantly my new favorite sweater (that i wont get to wear for a few months still but wore literally every day of the week for a few weeks back then).
