Denim

dark-wash bootcut jeans

I neglected to take outfit photos today, essentially because I didn't feel like it. (The picture above is from last September.) Instead I just lazed around reading The Godfather and snacking. But I was wearing these bootcut jeans that I bought in sixth grade, about seven years ago. Pretty impressive lifespan for $30 pants that have been worn extensively. They're only now getting fragile at the stress points. Isn't it funny how some random item will end up becoming a staple of your wardrobe?

  1. That is a long lifespan for a pair of pants!

    1. It occurred to me after writing this that I don't know how long pants are *supposed* to last, or if there even is such an expectation. I usually get tired of something long before it wears out!

  2. Sometimes snacking is just infinitely better than blogging.

But dude, some of the items in my closet are so old, it's at the point of being embarrassing. But keep rocking those old school jeans just because you can.

  3. Everyone needs an unplugged day now and then. I totally understand this. The batteries need recharging.

Thanks for sharing your old butt-shot. XD

  4. It's good to have a lazy relaxing day! I need to have one of those soon. I have some reeally old clothes in my closet. In fact I just realized recently that one of my favorite shirts I've had since I was 14. I'm 23 now.. ..

    1. Wowzers! Maybe you'll keep it until you have children and they're 14! (Assuming you have kids, that is)

    2. Yeah! And then they can hand it down to their kids, and then their kids! Okay now I'm just getting carried away..

    3. Eventually it'll be a handkerchief, and then a button cover...

  5. You have no idea how many pieces of clothing I have that are 10-15 years old. There are some things that are just too awesome to let go of, you know?

I have this one pair of super soft sky blue cotton shorts that I am loath to let go of - no joke, they came from Pumpkin Patch, and I can't wear them out because they have a chocolate stain on them...because I first wore them when I was 10. I have no idea how they still fit (magical expanding pants?), and of course they're form-fitting shorts now, where they would have been baggy as a kid, but they remain my oldest wardrobe relic that is still technically wearable!
