Banana Mint

direct sunlight, butter yellow cardigan

It was very bright out, and the sun was shining directly at me. Just about anyone will advise you that high noon is the worst time to take portraits, whether of yourself or others, and they're totally right. But I'm super excited about these photos because I used settings on my camera!!! Normally I shoot on auto and do 100% of the adjustments with computer software, so this was a thrilling departure from the norm. For me, that is. I know you're probably underwhelmed, and you'll be even more so when you learn that all I actually did was change the ISO from 200 to 100. I mean, um, SOMETHING VERY IMPRESSIVE. JAZZ HANDS.

Sorry for the fake out re: jazz hands. Today my cardigan was the exact same color as my lunch. I ought to get some sort of prize.

The Painted Rogue's recent wishlist must have made me green with envy. (Get it? Gosh, I'm hilarious, even though that doesn't totally makes sense.) Just sayin': I have Benetint, albeit as half of this weird duo thingy, and in my experience it is a useless product. When I wear it on my lips, nothing happens. And it barely shows up on my cheeks (not pictured). But then Syl comes along and uses Benetint as fake blood, and I'm like, "Why is it having efficacy?! Is this even the same product???" Mysterious. I do want to like it, not least because of the gorgeous photo on Benefit's website:

Anyway. How're you doing?

  1. Awesome eyeshadow! And is that a new adventure in blush I see? :-D

I'm sorry your Benetint isn't pulling its weight - I find it works perfectly. Are you applying it over recently balmed lips? I find it works better on unbalmed lips, with balm over the top...but it still stains, regardless! Maybe the duo one is somehow rubbish? I know everyone raves about Urban Decay's Perversion liner, and the one I have as half of a duo pencil is terrible, hard and crumbly...

    1. It is indeed a new adventure in blush! Thank you for noticing :) I think it must be that the duo stinks.

    2. I have a Stila smudge stick that's like that. I couldn't fathom why everyone thought they were epic when mine was rubbish. Then I bought a set of them (on super sale) and they were sterling. There's no accounting sometimes although consistency isn't a minor complaint.

  3. I am awed by your tactical deployment of the camera, amazed at your digital dexterity (jazz hands) and thoroughly delighted by your charming banana sweater. But mostly, I enjoyed your fetching eyeshadow.

  4. I love the green eyeshadow and that your lunch and cardigan were the same color. And hooray for playing with manual settings on your camera!
