Pomona
I had to hold that branch aside while posing. Darn tree, growing in a mildly inconvenient location! Actually I love this tree, because it produces delicious Gravenstein apples. Which leads to my next topic...
Pomona was the Roman goddess of fruit, and her named grew out of an ancient word for "apple" (according to Online Etymology Dictionary, and yes, pun intended). Astoundingly, a search for "pomona etymology" on Google Scholar turned up The Halloween Handbook, which mentions Pomona in a section on the history of Halloween:
Anyway, I've gotta admit that it bothers me that my shirt and cardigan are slightly different shades of red. But not enough to refrain from wearing them together.

Thank goodness for Google, right? I thought it was interesting too! Although completely out of season, haha
ReplyDeleteContrast shoes FTW :-)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the reds - I get the same thing with black clothes, and it's infuriating!
Darn shades and hues, being all subtly distinct =P
DeleteI couldn't even tell that the cardigan didn't match the shirt---to me, they look like they were meant to be part of a set. Great layering with the white print as a buffer!
