Bad Plaid
In an ideal world, I would be wearing something terribly elegant and simple, along the lines of this dress:
Reality is a much more unfortunate realm: I could never pull off that look. Give me a cardigan or something, so I can feel cozy. To be fair, I don't think it works for the model either, but that's not her fault. High fashion styling is mysteriously awful. Who decided that 100% of models should be instructed to appear miserable? I hate them. Let's get some lowbrow marketing up in this runway. (That would include DIVERSITY, like goddam.)
It wouldn't make much sense for me to be lounging around in a designer gown. What I did today was work on my computer and continue re-watching the first season of Gossip Girl. Not exactly an occasion to dress up for.

This post made me laugh, and then go grab my cozy plaid shirt too.

GOOD! Plaid foreva :D
DeleteIs it just me, or is she modeling "bitchface" too? She's probably wishing she was in your clothes, Sonya. I honestly don't even like the dress she is wearing.
ReplyDeleteTotally jealous of your sun! SOON!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha, I hope the sun stops by Alaska at SOME point! I actually do like that dress, but I don't like the hair, background, etc.
DeleteYou can never go wrong with comfy flannel shirts! Well, I guess it's possible to go wrong, but they're so cozy and always in style to some degree. I really like that dress on the model too. You could pull it off if you had somewhere to wear it. I believe in you!
ReplyDeleteThis one used to be my dad's and I love it :) Thank you Jamie--I dunno what I'd do without y'all! <3
DeleteI've always thought the majority of "High Fashion" looks pretty ridiculous. I'd like to see them modeling clothes I'd actually wear!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit looks so comfy! :)
Haha, same! I enjoy the fantasy aspect, though.
DeleteI had a flannel shirt just like that one when I was about 10 or 11. It was super comfy!
ReplyDeleteI've moved on to cardigans and cuddly sweaters now (they almost never put sparkles on flannel shirts) but I have fond memories...
Mission: flannel shirt with sparkles!
DeleteI don't know about the runway, darling, but I would totally beat the snot out of the model and take her dress. (trust me, she doesn't stand a chance) It looks like fabulous boiled wool. I could totally rock this. But not those horrid shoes. The model can keep them.
ReplyDeleteI'm imagining the model fleeing victorious Karen with just her shoes and her life! =P
DeleteI think a lot of high-fashion designers are pretty talented, but I detest the perpetual bitch-face show of every major fashion runway. Besides enjoying BPSFW because it celebrated diversity in body types, I loved the runway show because the girls were actually allowed to look pleased and have personality! It was almost shocking to see in a fashion environment... and that's kind of warped. Comfort all the way, though! I think you could feasibly pull off the dress in the photo, BUT it's not remotely exciting. I much prefer your pattern mixing.
ReplyDeleteExactly! And thank you :)
DeleteDig the pattern mixing.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
