Auld Lang Syne

OOTD 12/31/2013 New Year's Eve

The above picture doesn't make any sense, because I look so glum. On the other hand, that is an accurate representation of how I feel at parties, especially NYE parties. "We have to stay up how late? With lots of other people? Ugh." Ah, the glamorous life of an anxious introvert! At least the pink background is appropriately celebratory. I got it from this collection of glitter wallpapers. And here's what I was wearing under my fluffy, ruffly cardigan:

To be honest, I don't think this outfit was a winner, but there's no growth without experimentation, right? With that in mind, happy new year!

  1. Totally know how you feel about parties. But I think the glum face paired with the crazy bright pink background creates a really surreal feel. I like it!

Those are good words to start the new year with, for sure!
I personally like the ruffle cardigan, I think it would go well with whenever you want to get your spook on.

    1. Btw, I am totally a party pooper. Meaning I stand in the corner and make a poop expression.
Didn't go to a party, though. Stayed at home and was poopy there. :)

    2. I feel you, girl. I'd be right there with you at the party. Or haunting the buffet, because I do adore snacks. Re: the cardigan: I love it, but it's hard (for me) to wear. It's such a bold piece. I always feel like it's wearing me rather than the other way around, you know?

  3. In the photo where you show off your outfit, you are not glum at all but have a lovely smile.

Did you have to go to the party? Often we don't have a choice and although I am seen as confident and chatty, I don't always feel like it and can feel quite vulnerable especially where I know few people. Sometimes to help I set myself a target of how many people I talk to and then I can go. Usually that takes the focus off me and sometimes I am near the last to leave!! There may be a tip for you there.

    1. Aw, thank you! I actually skipped out on the party, thank goodness, because my family and friends are very understanding. I often feel the same vulnerability you mentioned. I really like the idea of setting a goal and approaching the event like a project! That's a great suggestion.

  5. I typically have a problem going to bed a decent hour, but the night that I want to stay up I had a difficult time doing so. I crashed into bed at 12:09pm.

Love the sweater, Happy New Year! Good Luck to you on the UBC I too am participating!

  9. Happy happy new year! I love the first picture with the sparkly background. That's how I feel about New Year's Eve crowds, but not the staying up late. Obviously I do that all the time even though I shouldn't.

    1. I've trained myself to go to bed between 11:30 and midnight, and now if I don't it totally wrecks me. I like the sparkles too! Glitterrrrr.
