Chocolate Clouds

Vintage Chocolate Clouds Dress, Chocolate Eye Makeup, Frosty Pastel Pink Lip Gloss - OOTD 1/5/2014

The bodice needs to be taken in a little, due to my dearth of boobular mass, but I was too excited to wait! This dress is new (to me) from Aspen Tree Vintage, via their giveaway on Larkspur Shoppe. I was quite pleased to win, because I've entered about a thousand blogger giveaways with no prior results. (A couple days later I also won a basket of Pantene products on Goodwillista. Hmm.) I was even more delighted when the package arrived in the mail yesterday, especially since Jessica Niamath (the lady behind Aspen Tree Vintage) wrapped up my items like a present, using yellow cloth and a ribbon. I wish I had taken a picture of the charming presentation before tearing it apart.

I decided to do a chocolate eye (because "brown smoky" doesn't sound appealing) to match the fudge-colored clouds on this dress. I think the fabric pattern looks like a fusion of Willy Wonka and traditional Tibetan art, which is perfect.

    1. Thank you! Secretly the dress looks really weird without a belt, haha.

  2. "dearth of boobular mass"? LOL I love it. And is that Aeolus in your chocolate clouds? Could you get him to blow some hot chocolate tidal waves (almost typed that "tital waves," thanks to chuckling over the phrase "boobular mass") and marshmallow clouds my way? It's chilly here!

    1. Yesss, I'm glad someone thought that phrase was funny! I admit that I was chuckling to myself when I wrote it. I consistently find myself hilarious, and it's probably a bad thing.

I'll pass your request onto Aeolus! Maybe Poseidon has a sweet tooth and he'll be on your side as well. . .

  4. Sonya, Congratulations on winning and how lovely that the lady sending this respected it as being special too and wrapped it accordingly. Love the way you are modelling it really letting us see the flow of the dress as you turn and I can see the joy in your face as you have fun with it. I also love the 'chocolate eye'. Have fun wearing it too.

  5. The dress is pretty fantastic. And the shadow compliments the dress perfectly. You didn't mention the shoes, and even in a color different from the dress, they work! Very cute.

    1. Thank you! I wanted to wear pastel pink flats to match my lip gloss and belt, but alas, my shoe collection is not very large. I'm glad it worked out anyway!

    1. Thank you! The belt was a one-off thrift shop find, and I WANT MORE IN EVERY COLOR. I might have to buckle down and make them myself.

  11. That's a lovely dress Sonya, both my daughters and I love vintage clothing and accessories; practically live in them. Check out the blog of this one British woman who is an absolute pro at vintage: junkaholique.com. I bet you'll love her. :)

  15. LOVE! Probably not appropriate to post on a fashion blog but those are the colors that I want to do my kitchen in. Brown and cream with splashes of pink!

    1. Haha, no, it's absolutely appropriate! I consider anything aesthetic to be relevant to fashion. That's gonna be such a cute color scheme for a kitchen! It will be especially fun to bake in there.

  16. Epic! Also love the 'dearth of boobular mass' comment - perfect! Never mind what you naturally have - I think this dress is crying out for one of those super pointy '50s vintage style bras (no idea where you get such a thing). The points will fill out the extra space, and complete the look ;-)

    Also, they'll probably provide a talking...point! (*ba-DUM-tsh!*)

    1. HAHAHA, I'll steal the Madonna one from the Hard Rock Cafe in New York! I would legitimately love to have one of those and try styling it.

  17. Chocolate clouds.... That's adorable! I love this unique print and it looks so fun to twirl around in. It's so exciting you won. I agree there are so many giveaways around but they are pretty hard to win.

    1. Thank you! I think the key is probably to find giveaways with fewer entries. For example, I'm thinking of doing a giveaway this month! Not a sponsored one, just goodies that I put together for fun. That'll have about three entries, haha!

  22. Haha I call it brown smoky all the time. Chocolate sounds a lot more elegant. But I'm not elegant so I guess I can call mine brown smoky!
Also the print on your dress is really cool. It looks so cute on you! It'll look even more perfect when you get it taken in. It's a really classic shape. Hooray for winning giveaways!
