In The Pink
I'm so happy that it's finally Advent! I'm going to be soaking up holiday spirit all month. (To be clear, I don't mean that in an alcoholic sense.) Today my parents are hosting a big family dinner, because on Thanksgiving my uncle was working. That will be festive. I actually like all of the relatives who are coming, which is unusual and excellent.
I'm planning to send cards to my online friends. Message your address to sonyaellenmann@gmail.com if you would enjoy some seasonal mail! I've been collecting addresses since last month. But I haven't shopped or made presents for any of the people on my Christmas list... Oops.
This dress is actually a modified apron, loosely based on the South Korean hanbok. This photograph by Christophe Marrast shows four ladies wearing hanbok:
My hanbok-inspired apron/dress thingy was a gift from a former coworker of my father's. When I was very young, my dad's job was in South Korea, so we all lived there for two and a half years. I was a toddler at the time, which means that I barely remember any of it.

Thank you!
DeleteWhat an interesting dress! I love the stripes and the pink stands out in such a good way. It makes me miss wearing bright colors. I've just been in a dark mood lately. :P Love the rosette flowers in your hair too! Those are so fun to make! <3

Thank you! I got the shirt from a thrift shop in Paris, and I'm silly enough to think that's cool, haha.
Deletehow interested your dad worked in South Korea! what a pity you were so young and don't remember much. that's a cool idea to make the apron like a dress, i love all the fun colors together. i actually always think of how cute aprons would be as dresses but never do it.
ReplyDeleteOooh, you totally should! I would dig that.
