Miss Melancholy
I've been sitting at my computer for half an hour, trying to think of something cheery and entertaining to write. I type a few sentences, erase them with the backspace key, and then open Tumblr in a tab. After I mindlessly scroll for a minute, I switch back and stare at the picture again. But inspiration isn't striking. The truth is that I'm depressed, and I just don't have anything nice to say at the moment. I'm not sure how much you're allowed to expound upon your mental illness on your style blog, but this is my third "down day" in a row, and even though I know I'll swing up again, I feel pretty disheartened.
I can always fake it for the camera--it's easy to make my facial muscles form a smile. But I have a much harder time forcing out disingenuous pithy paragraphs. I'd rather be honest, anyway. So... there you have it. I'm the opposite of a happy camper.
On a lighter note, I dubbed this look "Disney villain eyebrows"--pretty accurate, right?
Kinda awkward that my skin matches the building in those last two photos. Oops--that's what I get for shooting in the shade!
I look like I'm texting, but I'm actually just fiddling with the camera remote.

My skin frequently matches the pale tones in walls, haha. Us fair skinned beauties do have that trouble! I adore the subtle pattern mixing in your outfit! The floral blouse peeking through is ever so lovely. And I'm sad to hear your having a down day. I've dealt with some similar things in myself and others and I sincerely hope you feel better soon! Those feelings can truly wreck your life sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI always go through those ups and downs too. When I'm feeling down, I always just try to do something just for me. Whether it be shopping, looking at new make up, reading a book, or just going for a walk. I like being alone and it's hard when I have to take care of my son all day. So I'm thankful for the times I can have a little time for myself. :) Hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteLove that skirt and the red sweater is very striking. I need more red in my wardrobe! <3
